coverEveryone has fears. Fear of spiders, snakes, or perhaps fear of the dark. Some of us fear talking in front of people, or fear rejection, failure, or even success. Some of our fears are rational but most of our fears are irrational and are based in false perceptions and false realities. In this week’s Torah portion Shelach, Moses sends spies into the land. 10 of the spies came back with a message of fear and hopelessness. Caleb had a different spirit in him and brought a message of victory and hope. The ten spies saw themselves as grasshoppers next to the giants and they assumed the nations in Canaan saw them as grasshoppers as well. We learn in the book of Joshua that those in Jericho had heard of the fame of Israel and the God of Israel and their hearts melted within them in fear of the nation of Israel. 2 Timothy 1:7 tells us that “God does not give us a spirit of fear…” So where does this fear come from? How do we get rid of it? Join Pastor Joel Allen from Messianic Family Fellowship as leads us on a journey to face and to overcome our fears.
